Salamon's father-in-law has Parkinson's disease. He was diagnosed in 1998.
Maureen Salamon has been married for 18 years to her high school sweetheart, Joe. They have four children: Sean, Kevin, Ryan, and Meghan. She spends her time reading whatever she can get her hands, dabbling in interior design, and throws in some regular exercise for good measure. Salamon has been a professional writer for her entire career, graduating from Penn State University in 1989 with a journalism degree.
For the past several years, Salamon has increasingly specialized in writing about health and wellness topics, which is her true passion. She contributes to The Star-Ledger, New Jersey's largest newspaper, and the Saint Barnabas Health Care System. She is co-authoring the memoir of the prominent pediatrician who discovered AIDS in children in the early 1980s.
