Easing the burden for people with Parkinson's while funding research to find the cure
Summary
The American Parkinson Disease Association fulfills the dual mission to "Ease the Burden-Find the Cure" for Parkinson's disease. It focuses on research, patient and caregiver support, education, and increasing public awareness through a network of 56 Chapters, 62 Information and Referral Centers and more than 800 support groups nationwide. The APDA has contributed more than $30 million to PD research and $28 million to education and patient and caregiver support.

- Awarded $3.5 million in Parkinson's disease research funds for 2007-2008 fiscal year - Built its ninth Center for Advanced Research housed at the University of Chicago
How to get involved
You can get involved with a local chapter of the APDA by participating in support groups and special events. APDA chapters often sponsor Walk-a-thons in cities and towns around the nation.
