Could Deep Brain Stimulation Therapy Help Me?              

Deep brain stimulation is a fairly common treatment for Parkinson's disease. However, it is only helpful for select people. Check all that apply to find out if you might be helped by the procedure.

I'm younger than 70.
My Parkinson's symptoms include tremors.
When I take levodopa my symptoms get better.
I do not have episodes of dementia.
I am physically strong.

If you checked three or more of these boxes, you may be a candidate for deep brain stimulation. If your doctor believes you may benefit from deep brain stimulation he or she will refer you to a neurosurgeon. Further exams exams, tests, and an MRI will confirm whether you are a good candidate for the procedure.
