The ice cube like the bowl is
Nondescript. The temptation
To look away from this inert
Object is immediate.
"This is like watching paint dry,"
I think. "Watching a cat sleep
Would be more to my liking.
At least I could watch it breathe."
I give in to temptation and look
Away. I have to from time to
Time. Or I will become
nondescript.
The ice cube had been
Melting almost unseen before my
Eyes. But an unexpected,
Oppressive sun changed that.
I had looked away for a second
Or two. Seemingly out of the
Blue the bowl, still nondescript,
Had water from what was ice.
Our lives are like that ice cube.
A resource we have like our health
Turns into something else.
Something we did not
Expect. As seemingly out of the
Blue when our eyes were briefly
Averted, an outside force we
Could not control
And at first
Were
Not aware
Of
Turns our
Lives
Upside
Down.
we
feel
so
small.
Until we realize our lives
Have changed into
Something we do not
Need or want.
But we find ourselves doing new
Things. We meet people we never
Would have met if not for the melt
Down all along before our eyes.
Always remember when life throws
You a curve, when it melts your ice
Cube, take the water from the ice,
Use it to reinvent yourself and go on...
