Extended Release Requip May Arrive in 2008

Requip XL will likely be on pharmacy shelves sometime during 2008, assuming that GlaxoSmithKline satisfies the remaining FDA requirements.

The new Requip XL formulation uses time release technology from SkyePharma designed to provide a steady rate of absorption in the body to help reduce daily blood plasma fluctuations.

It will be the only oral extended release dopamine agonist on the market. However, the Neupro patch is also an extended release dopamine agonist medication.
