Forbes.com is reporting that Duodopa has been granted fast track status in the United States. This means that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will expedite its application with the hope of bringing the new therapy to people with Parkinson's faster-than-average.
Duodopa is an old medication, levodopa, delivered in a new way. Rather than administering levodopa as a pill into the stomach, it is injected into the junction between the stomach and small intestine through a tube. Many people respond better to levodopa administered this way.
