Dear Reader,
We wanted to talk about genes because they are in the news so much. We want you to know how to interpret the news you hear. Also, we want you to understand that some people appear to be more susceptible to Parkinson's because of genetic defects or mutations. Still, most cases have little or no genetic influence.
We also wanted to note that My Parkinson's Info has been serving you and many others for two years now. We are pleased to have served you, but we do not consider this a celebration. Life with Parkinson's gets progressively harder. We want to pass on information to make it easier. We wish there was more to offer and we look forward to the day when we can write about ways to beat this disease, or at least fight it aggressively. We want that cure, we can imagine it, but we cannot yet pass you a true message of optimism from doctors and neuroscientists telling you a cure is coming. We hope to have that news soon - within a decade we hope to announce the news that the Parkinson's community has been longing for.
As always, I welcome your emails with comments, editorials and critiques. Click Here to email me.
Sincerely,
Brian Ranck, Editor
